New Campaign Finance Reporting System for Alabama

Added on May 24, 2013 By Stephen Jackson

Great news! Alabama is getting a new campaign finance reporting system starting May 29th. The new web-based application will give the citizens of Alabama more options to search campaign finance records. In the past, candidates and political action committees submitted their campaign finance forms to the Secretary of State's office. The office staff would then scan the documents to PDF. This required hours of searching through pages of reports to find information. Now with the new system, these finance forms will be submitted electronically and will be searchable. This is a big step forward for transparency in Alabama. Campaign finance disclosure is one of the areas Alabama has received low marks in the past.
